The author has many relatives and ancestors from the area, and their stories are included. Wexford has now grown substantially, and in no way does it resemble the pioneer farming community it once was. It has long ago been subsumed by the burgeoning city of Scarborough. But once, the area bounded roughly by Lawrence Avenue East, Ellesmere Road, and Warden Avenue was farming land. The history deals mostly with the pioneer families and their descendants, and the churches and schools that were established. Laid in is a letter typed by the author, to which she has added some handwritten notes. In the letter she talks about the purpose of the book. It is signed by her. This is a near fine copy.

Rambling About Wexford is a personal memoir about her life and witness in the 173 year old congregation of Zion Wexford United Church, now known as Wexford Heights United Church. It includes material written over many years in celebration of significant anniversaries and special events, as well as stories about her own growing up in the rural community of Wexford.

About the Author

Mary Louise Cook is a descendant of Canadian pioneers on the land we now call Lawrence Avenue, in Scarborough, Ontario. She was born in 1930, raised in Scarborough, and has watched the communities of the neighbourhood and her own congregation (now called Wexford Heights United Church) evolve.
