CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Minor rubbing to edges, gilt on spine bright. Interior front hinge cracked, but holding; else pages are clean and tight. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: Joel Parker Whitney , at eh age of 17, arrived in California in 1857 to seek his fortune in the gold fields. He later prospered as a merchant, and made his financial fortune dealing in Colorado gold and silver mines, California real estate and New Mexico ranches. Reminiscences Of A Sportsman is a collection of stories and experiences from his life as a sportsman. It describes Whitney's adventures in hunting and fishing, as well as his experiences with horses and dogs with chapters that focus on different aspects of Whitney's life, such as his early years, his time spent in the West, and his travels to indulge his passion for fishing and hunting.
