An interesting association copy, with signatures of all three contributors. The book is inscribed on the front free endpaper by Ripley to Eleanor Stickney, ornithologist and author at Yale University Peabody Library. Also laid in are two personal letters to Stickney from J. Fenwick Lansdowne and many articles about Ripley and the publication of this book. Also included is a signed copy of 'A Synopsis of the Fossil Rallidae' by Storrs L. Olson, an offprint from this book published separately. Very Good hardcover in dust jacket with original slipcase. Publisher's quarter maroon cloth over cream buckram boards. Some shelf wear to jacket and slipcase. With forty-one color paintings by J. Fenwick Lansdowne and a chapter on Fossil Species by Storrs L. Olson. B&W maps and illustrations.
