AUTHOR'S PRESENTATION COPY: warmly signed and inscribed to the title page by Ralph Lauren: 'To Saffron, Thank you for being one of my greatest and most beautiful stars. Love Ralph'. Additionally, a hand-written card is laid-in on Lauren's personal headed Tiffany & Co. stationery: 'Dear Saffron, Best wishes to you in the New Year. Love, Ralph.' The recipient is believed to be Saffron Aldridge, an English model who modelled extensively for Lauren during the 1980s and 90s (and who is featured in the book). Large 4to, 40 X 31cm, 475 pages, over 6kg: a substantial and lavishly-illustrated career-retrospective monograph of Lauren's work. Near Fine: tightly bound in oatmeal coloured cloth, lettered in brown to the backstrip; faint damp mark to the bottom-edge of the closed page block, encroaching by roughly 1cm onto the bottom-edge of the first couple and last few pages (the fore-edge of the latter is similarly affected); a little waviness to roughly the last fifty pages; else, bright, crisp and clean. The dustwrapper is Fine: bright, crisp and unfaded. Housed in a slipcase to the same design, which is Very Good with some rubbing, minor marking and surface fraying to the edges. A very heavy item, indeed: shipped free within the United Kingdom; an additional postage charge (to cost) will be required for shipping overseas. About the Author: Ralph Lauren began his career in 1967, designing neckties under the label Polo. Today, his collections include menswear, womenswear, accessories, fragrance, and home. He has received numerous awards for his work in fashion, philanthropy, and humanitarian causes, and is the only designer to receive the CFDA’s four highest honors: Womenswear Designer of the Year, Menswear Designer of the Year, Retailer of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement.
