8vo 8" - 9" tall; 436 pages; [SIGNED] 1841 James P. Giffing. HC 1st edition. Soundly bound in original brown cloth with decorative ruling in blind to boards. Titles brightly in gilt to spine. Inscribed with the author's best wishes on the front flyleaf and dated 1844. Shallow chipping to cloth at crown of spine and lightnicking and rubbing to cloth at edges. Shallow damp stain across the lower front corner of page block. Thoughts on European travel and the great writers of his time. Uncommon in the original edition, especially so signed by author. G++ or better; Signed by Author.
