Add to basketFranklin Center, PA: The Franklin Library, 1977. Limited Edition, and Signed by author Louis Auchincloss on the third free endpaper. Accompanied by the scarce original 22-page "Notes From the Editors" pamphlet (see scan). Specially-commissioned illustrations by Uldis Klavins. As New, pristine; never read - nor handled, except to scan and store. Ribbon bookmark is, in fact, still in its original position. See scans. Stout octavo, 417 pp.; full rich brown leather, gilt decorated and imprinted, spine panels rib divided, All Edges Gilt, brown silk moire endpapers with matching brown satin page-marker ribbon. The gilt is 22k, and the paper is custom-made 60-pound Antique Cream with laid finish. Franklin's as-always lavish binding, here for Auchincloss's 1964 novel focused on the driven headmaster of an Episcopal prep school for the wealthy elite scions of the American northeast - similar to one Auchincloss had attended. An early treatment of what has since become a popular theme and setting. The Franklin Library, doing what they did best. Handsomely preserved. Please review scans. With the author's "A Special Message to Subscribers from Louis Auchincloss" (prefacing the novel) and the separate original 22-page "Notes From the Editors", itself in Fine condition as well. A collector's example. Please review scans. L-franklin2.
