Detailing the author's life in rural Scotland from 1832-1856, the work presents an interesting depiction of the country during the nineteenth century Copiously illustrated with plates throughout, including a signed frontispiece portrait by the author. Featuring a dedication from the author to the front free-endpaper: 'C. N. Lee From the Author'. In cloth binding with gilt detailing. Externally sound. Slight wear to extremities, joints and spine. Some marking to front board. Hinges strained. Internally, the binding is strained but holding. Pages generally bright with instances of spotting throughout, although the text is unaffected.
