Dust jacket worn at the tips, slightly faded on spine panel, and top edge (which is oversized and extends above the boards) is bent with tiny tears. A short novel, 72 pages. Inscribed by author on front free endpaper "To Miss Anderson, With every good wish from the author, Philip Robinson / September 1954". Additionally laid-in to this copy is a one-page letter, handwritten by the author to the same Miss Anderson, which starts "I am sending you herewith a copy of my short novel "Replacement" which, I remember, you were kind enough to say you would like to read.".
