Nelson" inked on the title page. Also laid in is Nelson's photograph marked "Dr. E. W. Nelson" on the verso (apparently removed from a scrapbook with several creases and two old glue residues. Cloth. Mrs. Ada B. Morrison was one of only sixteen (of a total membership of 435) female charter members of The American Society of Mammalogists (ASM). "During the first 30 years of The American Society of Mammalogists (ASM), a small but notable group of women made significant contributions to the Society and to mammalogy in general. The limited opportunity for women in mammalogy at the time of the founding of the ASM in 1919 is evidenced by the observation that only 16 of 435 Charter Members were women. To highlight the contributions of early women mammalogists, we describe the accomplishments of 23 women in short biographical treatments." (Kaufman, abstract) The authors note that biographical information on many women during this time is difficult. Mrs. Morrison is not discussed beyond her Charter Membership in the ASM. An interesting research project for someone. LITERATURE: Dawn M. Kaufman, Donald W. Kaufman, Glennis A. Kaufman, "Women in the Early Years of the American Society of Mammalogists (1919 1949)", Journal of Mammalogy, Volume 77, Issue 3, 16 August 1996, Pages 642 654. Seller Inventory # 13046
