Binding sound and pages unmarked. Signed by the author on half title with inscription "For Harold Mays / Sincerely, Gwendolyn Brooks, January 22, 1996." Harold Mays and his partner Harold Herman, an interracial gay couple together for 50+ years in Washington, D.C., were substantial collectors of African American, LGBTQ, and 20th century poetry, and for a while ran a shop called Two Harolds Antiques in Old Town Alexandria, VA.
