Taunton: Henry W. Colby Davol Printing House 1899. First Edition. Hardcover. This copy bears a sideways full page Christmas inscription signed and dated ["Dec. 24 - 1907"] by the author on the blank page facing the title page. Dark Greenish cloth with gold gilt lettering/decoration, beveled edges to the boards, all edges gilt, floral endpapers, 208 pages. The author was apparently born in 1835 and, besides being a poet, was the Chairman of the Board of Alderman for Taunton, Massachusetts Two non-authorial gift inscriptions to the front endpapers, else VG copy save for some fraying to the spine heel and lightly to one lower corner, and a line of adhesion spots to the cloth on the rear board.
