About this Item

Tusiani is widely recognized for his Italian, English, Latin and Apulian poetry and has received numerous awards and accolades. In 1954, he was the first American to receive the Greenwood Prize of the Poetry Society of England. Among his many acheivements Tusiani is credited with the invention of the "inner sonnet" a new verse form of his own devising. To grasp the importance of this particular contribution to poetics, fast forward in your mind, back to present day, and consider the wildly famous poet Billy Collins, and his answer to the question from a reader; "Oh Mr. Collins, where the did all the beautiful rhyming in poetry go to?" "It's still here madam", Collins replies, "it's just moved inside the poem. It's sitting there quietly, patiently, even as we speak. patiently waiting for you to find it." They look at one another for a beat. Then Collins adds: "and rap, hip-hop, Bob Dylan of course.there's rhymes every whicha way with all that stuff." The Yvette to whom this book is inscribed is the poet Yvette Ripplinger. Rare in any condition, but almost unheard of signed. Seller Inventory # 005305
