"I" on Publishers page indicating 1st edition/1st printing for this Publisher at that date, Inscribed to former owners, Signed and Dated "October 17 - 1949" on half title page - light toning/soiling to edges of text block - rubbing to bottom corners of boards with very small to tiny spots (2) of cloth covering worn away - top corners of boards very lightly bumped - 3 very small spots of stain/soiling to rear board - toning to front/rear end papers - original booksellers small sticker to lower right of front paste-down - 7/8" deep x 1/4" wide paper clip imprint to top edge of pages 191-199 - text and photographs are clean, mylar enclosed price-clipped dj shows edge wear, light toning, light soiling and some scuffing to front panel and fold to front flap - 51/4" wide x 1/2" deep piece missing from top right of rear panel, around spine and top left edge of front panel - 1/4" tear with associated 2" crease to bottom left of front panel - 2 small chips along top edge with 3/8" tear and 3 small chips along bottom edge of rear panel - chipping to bottom edge with a vertical crease to spine - a chip each to top/bottom of fold rear panel to flap - chip to top and 3/8" tear to bottom of fold front panel to flap, numerous black & white photographs, maps to front/rear end papers.
