First edition. Introduction by Philip Levine. Spine tanned and a tiny light corner stain affecting a few leaves, near fine in printed wrappers. Nicely Inscribed to Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Donald Justice on the title page. Laid in is a one-page ALS, passing the book along. Winner of the 1984 Capricorn Award, sponsored by the Writer's Voice of the West Side YMCA and judged that year by Philip Levine. In his introduction, Levine describes Petrie's poetry as "extraordinarily accomplished" and writes ".I wonder how it is possible [these poems] are not better known, and. I have no answer.".
