First, unexpurgated edition. Cloth, 277pp., illustrated, index. "A thorough study of the trial and execution of Tom Horn.A threatened law suit required the author and publisher to rewrite and replace seven pages of illustrations and text after the volume had been printed and bound, but before it was released. These changes were made by cutting out the deletions and tipping in new sheets. The text pages of 13 and 54 were changed as well as several of the illustrations." The corrected sheets are not laid into this copy. Horn was famous as a scout against the Apaches, fought in Arizona's Pleasant Valley War and was a Pinkerton detective before he allegedly became a hired killer of rustlers and homesteaders for the big cattlemen of Wyoming. This is the definitive work on the subject. This copy is signed by Krakel, T. Blake Kennedy, one of the five defense lawyers for Horn, and -- Ross, either the Ross who witnessed the shooting of Fred Powell or the W, B, Ross who is in this book. Also laid-in are two copies of the promotional announcement for this book and a book review. The rare unexpurgated edition.
