A bibliography of Sexton Blake with a preface by W.O.G. Lofts. Loosely inserted signed handwritten letter from Sheila Harris (Eric Parker's daughter) to Lofts written on headed notepaper from 78 Millway, Mill Hill, London NW7 dated January 6th 1983 and consisting of about 240 words in which she thanks Lofts for the draft of his talk, 'I felt very ashamed to realise how very much more you knew about my father than I did. We both think it is wonderful to see how much his work is appreciated.' She hopes to find out more about her father's work and somehow make the public more aware of the art of illustration. Loosely inserted typed stapled article of 'The Eric Parker Story' by W.O.G. Lofts, 6pp., recto only. with Lofts' corrections in ink. It was published in 1983 in the Australian magazine 'Collectors' Digest'. W.O.G. Lofts (1923 � 1997) researcher and writer had a love of juvenile literature. Eric Parker (1898 � 1974) is referred to as THE Sexton Blake artist in Lofts' article, the capital letters are there because, 'it has often been said that at times the artist does as much as the writer to sell a paper. Nothing could be more true in this case.' Sexton Blake had in the region of 200 authors and a number of artists 'but none had a greater impact than Eric Parker.' Illustrated photocopy of 'An appreciation and tribute from Rufus Segar' about Parker. Two photocopies showing characters, authors and artists associated with Sexton Blake. Small tears to card at head and foot of spine. Very good. Slight wear, otherwise very good indeed.
