About this Item
Inscribed by William Lederer to bookseller Bennett Schneider on the front flyleaf, with a typed letter signed by Lederer to Schneider and a Lederer family holiday card laid in. The author's first book, recounting "his career in, love for, and war with the United States Navy." Lederer (1912-2009) is best known for The Ugly American (1958), one of two novels he co-wrote with Eugene Burdick. Octavo: 292 p. Original tan cloth-covered boards over a blue cloth spine, with silver titles. The dust jacket is sun faded along the spine, with a bit of edgewear and some shallow chipping; otherwise very good.
