Chinese Rendering By Master Paramiti of Central North India at Chih Chih Monastery Canton China, A.D.705. Commentary (abridged) by Ch'an Master Han Shan (1456-1623). Translated by Upasaka Lu K'uan Yu (Charles Lik). Fine First Printing in full yellow cloth covered boards with silver gilt titles on spine. Very fine black and yellow dust jacket with white lettering, price-intact, with an archival mylar cover. Clean, tight, no markings or underlining . Loosely laid in is a TYPED AIRMAIL LETTER SIGNED BY CHARLES LUK directed to the original owner that apologizes for and then outlines extensive errata not included in the book. Exceedingly rare in this condition and unique with the personalized enclosure listing errata and additions included. Lu K'uan Yu (Charles Luk) (1898-1978) was an early translator of Chinese Buddhist texts and commentaries into the English language. He was born in Guangdong province, and moved later to Hong Kong, where he wrote most of his books. He passionately devoted his life to presenting Chinese Buddhist texts to Westerners because he wanted to preserve Buddhism. See photos.
