SIGNED by the author, then Director of Dramatics, Stanford University, at first free endpaper, inscribed "To 'Don' COnfrey who, according to George, is destined to go far. Don't be afraid of working hard, Don!, Harold Helvenston, Dec. 1931." Stated First Edition, from June 1931. Bound in a light beige, thin cloth over boards, fine black-and-white woodcut pasted neatly to front cover, very mild sunning to, soiling of edges, oatmeal cloth spine. Double-columned texts. Illustrated with black and white photos galore, a tipped-in full-color illustration at frontis of a sketch for a monastery setting. Set in a French face adapted as Linotype No. 16, with Linotype Metro Bold headings. The design and printing is by Hartley Jackson.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
