[Adelaide, Royal Society of South Australia, 1915]. Octavo, pages 707-842 with 3 illustrations in the text plus 2 maps and 25 pages of plates (most from photographs). Acidic printed wrappers uniformly tanned and very slightly chipped, with minor loss to the plain spine; a very good copy (internally in fine condition). A presentation copy, inscribed and signed 'To my old & esteemed friend | Dr A.M. Morgan | S A White | "Weetunga" | 18/1/16' near the printed 'With the compliments of the Author' on the front cover. Dr Alexander Matheson Morgan (1867-1934) was an Adelaide physician and sometime honorary ornithologist to the South Australian Museum. The expedition in question was under the leadership of R. Lockhart Jack; his concerns were primarily geological. White accompanied him in an unofficial capacity and the 'present notes deal mainly with the zoological and botanical objects noticed during the trip'. The party travelled by camel from Oodnadatta to the Everard and Musgrave Ranges from mid-June to the end of August 1914, during a period of prolonged drought. Approximately 29 pages and all of the plates are devoted to the narrative and the local Aborigines (who appear in 16 of the plates). This is followed by scientific reports mainly on mammals, birds, spiders, insects and botany.
