London: T. Werner Laurie Ltd., 1923. Limited Second English Edition, signed by Conrad and numbered 452 of 1000 copies on limitation notice at front. Octavo (23cm); vi,185pp. Portrait frontis with tissue guard. Publisher's blue dust jacket with paper spine label; boards in light blue with white parchment spine and matching paper spine label. Extra spine label tipped in between p. [186] and final leaf. Jacket rubbed along top edge and tops of flaps with a couple shallow tears at folds; spine darkened, with some toning to front and rear panels and to verso. Boards are square with nudging at corners and spine ends, fading along bottom edge, and some smudging to parchment. Toning along gutters to both free endpapers. Pages bright, clean, and unmarked. Binding is sound. Conrad's adaptation of his novel of the same name, which ran for ten performances over one week at London's Ambassador's Theatre in November 1922. An earlier edition in four acts was published in a run of only 52 copies by H.J. Goulden in 1921, with the third and fourth acts combined for this edition. [Ehrsam p. 305]. Seller Inventory # 29766
