The first Black Sparrow collection of Bukowski's work in the 1990s, published in the year the poet turned 70, thus the inspiration for the title. This volume contains not only poems (80 in all), but also twenty of Bukowski's short stories, interspersed randomly throughout the text, from "Son of Satan," "The Life of a Bum," "The Jockey," and "Camus," to "Fame," "Strikeout," "Lonely at the Top," and the well-known "Bring Me Your Love," previously issued by Black Sparrow in book form in 1983 as a collaboration with R. Crumb. Bound in at front is a signed and dated Bukowski screenprint, the central figure based on the famous doodles he often included on colophons and alongside inscriptions (though not in this case). Inscribed: "For Mo and Julie: / You think you can push some stew? / Hope it doesn't need spices. A few beers might do. / Charles Bukowski." Quarter-bound patterned cloth and printed paper boards; printed label affixed to spine; ochre endpapers; signed ("Buk") and dated silkscreen print bound in after copyright page First edition, limited issue, one of 251 signed and numbered copies (this is #8, with autograph limitation of 225), hand-bound by Earle Gray with original signed and dated silkscreen print, inscribed opposite title page.
