About the Author

JOHN SCALZI is one of the most popular science fiction authors of his generation. His debut, Old Man's War, won him the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. His New York Times bestsellers include The Last Colony, Fuzzy Nation, Redshirts (which won the Hugo Award for Best Novel), The Last Emperox, The Kaiju Preservation Society, and Starter Villain. Uncle Hugo's started in 1974 and Uncle Edgar's in 1980 in different store fronts. Both stores moved into a much larger location in 1984. Rioters burned that location to the ground on May 30, 2020, wiping out over $1 million in books. In August, 2022 we reopened a new brick-and-mortar store at 2716 E. 31st St., about 2 miles east of our old location.
