From colophon, "Published in a limited edition 2153". Inscribed by author on front fly leaf, "Hi, Dorothy, Shoemaker" with hand drawn "John Q. Public" character. Vaughn Shoemaker (1902-1991) was a two-time Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist and creator of the character "John Q. Public", representing the common people.
