Add to basket12mo. 141 pages. Hardcover with a black dust jacket, now in mylar. The jacket is worn and has some edge tears and chips, especially at the bottom corner of the front cover, There is a small blue "Signed" label inside the mylar at the foot of the spine. The book is sound with secure inner hinges. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED on the half title by the author, "For Captain Leland Lovette- with gratitude / Corey Ford". Leland Pearson Lovette (1897-1967) was Captain in the U.S. Navy and was Commander of the U.S.S. Guam in WWII. He eventually made rear Admiral. He was also the author of a book on Naval Customs. The bottom of the jacket's front panel reads, "An Eye Witness Account of our Least-Known and Loneliest Front". First Edition with the Scribner's "A" on the copyright page.
