A signed presentation copy of the very scarce first edition of R. Mainwaring Finley's genealogical study of the Cheshire Mainwaring family. A vanishingly scarce privately printed first edition. Inscribed 'presented to the Rev. C Haden by Gent. R. Mainwaring with compliments and kind regards' to the front free endpaper. Illustrated with a frontispiece and one further plate. Collated, complete. A concise genealogical history of the ancient Cheshire family of Mainwaring, tracing its descent from its reputed Norman origins through its principal branches, and drawing on family records, heraldic visitations, county histories, and other sources. In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with back strip and boards lightly age toned, with handling marks. Front hinge a touch strained but firmly held. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with instances of pencil notations. Very Good.
