8vo. xiii, 405 pp. inc. index. First series, first edition, deluxe vellum binding. Signed presentation inscription on half title from author to his brother. t.e.g., otherwise uncut. Green marbled endpapers. Bookplate (C.L. Buxton, the presentee) to front pastedown. some foxing to bookplate, some light browning and some foxing to the verso of front free e.p. and the prelims. Internally, occasional light foxing, occasional thumbmark, some light browning. Blanks at rear foxed with foxing to recto of rear free.e.p., good plus in original vellum gilt. Vellum lightly soiled, gilt slightly dulled, minor markings, small 12mm split at tail of spine, and repaired small split at top of upper hinge, faint scratch on rear board, lower cormers curled, good plus. Please see photographs. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
