Michael Bentine, one of Britain's best-loved scriptwriters and entertainers, had a bad stammer as a child which made his already distressing self-consciousness all the more acute. In this practical, heartfelt book he uses anecdotes from his own experience to show how shyness in all its aspects can be overcome. He describes how he was helped to master his stammer and how he learnt to cope with a wide range of potentially stressful occasions at all stages of life - as a child, adolescent desperately shy of girls, as a young husband and father, and throughout his career.
