Signed and inscribed on title page by author, photographer and ski movie pioneer, John Jay: To ___ ___, Good skiing, ___! John Jay. Book is tight and clean. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Blue cloth panels stamped in silver. Light shelf-rubbing along edges. Original DJ with price-clipped flap. Just below where printed price was is a faint pencil price. DJ shows rubbing along edges, faint creasing and shallow chipping. In 1981 author John Jay was inducted into the US National Ski Hall of Fame, and in 1997 the International Skiing History Association presented him with a Lifetime Achievement Award. In 1999 John Jay was named one of the 100 most influential skiers of all time by Ski magazine. Prolific ski filmmaker Warren Miller said of John Jay, (he) "virtually invented the ski film in its modern form." Skiing the Americas is John Jay's most important title.
