Add to basketSigned copy of The Slave by Nobel laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer, published by Farrar, Straus and Cudahy in 1962. This is the stated second printing from the same year as the first, and is signed and inscribed by the author on the "Also by" page. A major work of historical fiction by Singer, The Slave explores the tensions between love, faith, and identity in 17th-century Poland, and helped cement his legacy as one of the great Yiddish writers of the 20th century. Signed copies of early printings remain uncommon. Hardcover, with dust jacket. The book is in Very Good condition, with tanning to the textblock edges and some sunning along the spine and board edges. Light bumping to board edges and corners. Text is clean and unmarked, with sound binding and firm hinges. 10-20 pages throughout text had been previously dog-eared and are now flattened. Tips of bottom corners of pages 241-248 were creased over previously and now flattened. The dust jacket, also Very Good, is toned with a faint ring stain on the front panel, small chips and tears along edges and corners, and a heavily faded spine. Jacket is protected in a Demco mylar sleeve.

Orders ship within 2 business days of payment - typically next day. Orders are shipped via USPS media mail at a flat rate of $6 and $2 for each additional item. Orders can also be shipped via USPS priority mail for $15 for the first book. For both services, customers will be contacted if heavy/oversized books require additional shipping costs, or if the shipping destination requires additional shipping costs.
Important note for non-US buyers: International orders are billed at cost, and this cost varies greatly with the weight and size of the order. If you are ordering oversized volumes or multiple books, expect notably higher shipping costs. When you place your order, I will estimate the shipping options and costs with PirateShip and email you about these options. When we agree on a shipping method, I will send an invoice for the additional shipping costs through Abebooks, and will pack and ship the order once this is paid. If it turns out that your order costs less to ship than the default international shipping cost that I use for my books, I will reiumburse you for the difference.
