Youth is a time of curiosity, constant learning experiences, and adventure. So it is for two young boys, Liu Shao-hua and his best friend Wang Chin-min, as they embark on a journey into the Chinese highlands in "The Snow Storm over Temple Ta-er: A Joyful Journey of Endurance and Hope."
Chu Yin-tsung McIntyre weaves a rich and elaborate tale as she follows the two boys on their eye-opening journey inland. Inspired by the style of the art diarists, McIntyre pulls you into the action and allows you to take part in the once-in-a lifetime experiences these two youngsters encounter, including a rare and special audience with the Dalai Lama XIV, an eleven-year-old child himself, an experience young Shao-hua never would have expected.
"The Snow Storm over Temple Ta-er" is a vibrant, yet intimate portrait of one young boy's cultural and personal maturation. It reminds us that adventure and knowledge await us, even in the confines of our own environments; we just have to get out there and take part.
