First book by the prolific Walter de la Mare (1873-1956), whose early poetry for children established his reputation, followed by two notable novels, Three Mulla-Mulgars (1910) and Memoirs of a Midget (1921), and a long succession of excellent short stories (the earliest of which were also published under the Ramal pseudonym but not collected in book form until after his death). Inscribed to Dr. Jacob Schwartz (bookseller) on the flyleaf. Japan vellum spine and blue cloth. Slight toning to spine and top of front board, very good plus. Bookplate.
