Item description from seller

This copy was presented to the Governor-General of the Union (CR Swart) with the author's compliments. In his inscription the author (the entomologist Bernard Smit) draws attention to pp. 203-214 which feature his address entitled "Fifty Glorious Years of Co-operation in Scientific Research in Southern Africa". Attention is drawn, in the margin, to his invocation of the GG's address, a few weeks previously, at the opening of the Union Festival in Cape Town. The journal (pp. 197 - 228) is o/w unmarked and the staples with which it is bound are unrusted. The card wraps are clean and unblemished.
