Dave Dorman's art has graced the covers of Star Wars comic books, paperbacks, and CDs, and has appeared on trading cards and even toy packages. This book contains the most complete record of one artist's catalog of work based on his favorite subject... Star Wars!
Dave Dorman, like Madonna, was born in Bay City, Michigan in the late 1950's. Being a "military brat," he grew up as a surfer kid in Hawaii, as well as a high school football star in Maryland. A scifi fan, Dave drove five hours round trip to see Star Wars on opening day in 1977, and has never been the same.
After a stint in college, then at the Joe Kubert School, Dave began his career as a professional illustrator in 1983 creating covers for Heavy Metal magazine. As the comics industry expanded, Dave was hired to do covers for many major publishers, as well as work for games, magazines and books. He is also noted for his Batman, Aliens, Predator and Indiana Jones artwork.
In 1990, Dave was assigned a dream project by Dark Horse comics. He was to illustrate the covers to Dark Empire; a new Star Wars mini-series which picked up where the Return of the Jedi left off. Since then, Dave has become an in-demand artist on numerous Star Wars projects. This book,Star Wars The Art Of Dave Dorman, summarizes his Star Wars Work.
