New York: Atheneum, 1977. Octavo. 54 pp. Softcover. A near fine copy. First edition, so stated, in original wrappers; issued simultaneously in cloth. Inscribed and signed by the author: "To Paul — About whom whole books are written! –Who walks with the ghost of [Robert] Frost — Who has suffered Frost’s cabin fever — Who has loafed at the Loaf. With affection. Marvin Bell. 20 September 1977." Above Bell’s inscription is a sketch of a bearded man—possibly Paul—holding a flag that reads "Blue Seal Feeds." Paul Hamilton Engle (1908–1991) was an American poet, editor, teacher, critic, novelist, and playwright. He is best known for his long tenure as director of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and for co-founding the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa.
