About this Item
First edition. Boards a bit soiled and slightly spotted, still a nice and presentable, very good copy lacking the rare, presumed dustwrapper. Nicely Inscribed by the author in the year of publication: "To R. Underwood Johnson gratefully in token of Stella's year of life in 'The Century.' W. J. Locke. Ap. 1913." Robert Underwood Johnson was the editor of *The Century Magazine*, where *Stella Maris* was serialized. Perhaps the best known work by this popular author of romantic novels. Basis for two silent films, notably the 1918 version directed by Marshall Neilan, and featuring Mary Pickford in a highly acclaimed dual role. Scarce. Seller Inventory # 95034
