The Sun on the Mountains series traces the James family from the loss of their Quaker bank during the American Revolution to their oil company headquarters in present day Calgary. Without stopping a moment of drama, Trafford constructs the foundation of a western Canadian epic that layers Indian and European mythology in a perfect blend of history and adventure through his central character Blue Eye James, whose time honoured codes of hard work, honour, fairness and trust lay the foundation for an empire.
TYLER TRAFFORD has worked for many years as a reporter and editor, first with the Calgary Herald, and then in Australia with The Australian. Upon returning to Canada, he began a full time writing career, publishing a series of histories and biographies for others, before turning his attention to his own fiction. The Story of Blue Eye is the first of the Sun on the Mountains series that explores the history of Plains First Nations horse culture, and the rise of western commerce, through high adventure. He shares time between Calgary and his studio on the Oldman River near Pincher Creek, Alberta.
