Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Rex Whistler (illustrator). Rex Whistler was a regular visitor to the young authors home where he challenged her to invent a story which he would illustrate with quick pencil sketches as she unfolded it verbatim. A year later in the early period of WW2 he suggested that he would like to make larger coloured drawings from the sketches so the story could be published after the war. He only finished three dying in action in 1944. Seller Inventory # 23508sF5
