Apart from these marks there are no annotations and the text block is clean. This wonderful book of recollections by a great poet still enchants the reader. While youth is celebrated, as it should be, Donald Hall has a sad and shrewd way of recording the passage of time, without succumbing to sentimentality. A gorgeous book from a wonderful thoughtful poet. This is the first hardback English edition from Andre Deutsch in London, and it has a protected unclipped jacket. The text block is firm but the edges are embrowned. The jacket has not aged well, but is not chipped or torn. Just a bit scruffy and slightly foxed! A wise and wonderful book.
