Complete with 78 photographs and 8 maps. (Neate D26) Signed on the title page by Kurt Diemberger. Kurt Diemberger is an Austrian mountaineer, filmmaker, and author renowned for his pioneering climbs and contributions to high-altitude exploration. Diemberger is one of the few climbers to have successfully made first ascents of two of the world's fourteen 8,000-meter peaks: Broad Peak in 1957 and Dhaulagiri in 1960. Diemberger's partnership with climbing legends like Hermann Buhl, along with his remarkable survival of the tragic 1986 K2 expedition where he lost his climbing partner Julie Tullis cemented his status as an iconic figure in the mountaineering world.
