Tale of remarkable unknown American journalist who helped rescue 2-4000 mainly Jews escape the Nazis (ala Schindler) during 1939-40. First American awarded Yad Vashem recognition for non-Jews who made major difference for Jewish survival during the Holocaust. As early as 1935 he had first reported in The New York Times on brutal treatment of Jews in Germany. Wikipedia lists many famous artists who survived thanks to him and his rescue operations: Max Ernst, Marc Chagall, Jacques Lipchitz and Anna Seghers, etc.
