Publisher's original blue pebbled cloth with the front and spine lettered in red, top edge stained red. Dust jacket and five interior plates by John Coleman Burroughs. This unique copy is signed by three of ERB's children: To Robert Horvath - /with best wishes/John Coleman Burroughs/Hulbert Burroughs/Joan Burroughs Pierce/2-10-60. Heins M9-1. Tarzana: Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc (1940), 315 pps. A Very Fine tight square copy. The Nearly fine pre-publication jacket with marketing material on reverse has a vertical crease on spine and another at front gutter. Fine trade version of the laminated state jacket with tape ghost over small tear on reverse of top edge. From the "Astonishing Edgar Rice Burroughs collection" of Howard Frank. "Almost every copy in best available condition", in original jackets, many signed.
