BOOK DESCRIPTION: 8vo, 356 pgs, addendum. Decorative gray cloth with white Maltese cross in white and gilt titled cover and spine. Inked presentation from author dated 1917. CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Well rubbed, worn on corners and spine ends. Interior is clean and a bit loose. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: Author enlisted at the age of 12 years and nine months in New York City. He served on both the frontier and in the Civil War. Arrived at Fort Pierre, Nebraska Territory in 1855. Re-enlisted in 1860, he fought in Northern Virginia through 1865, mustered out at the age of 24. Great military story of a young, common soldier in a U.S. Army Infantry regiment. Nice presentation from author to John H. Scully Esq., New York, May 22, 1917.
