INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. The inscription is dated Sept 28, 1903 and presents the book to Sir William C. Van Horne, the Canadian railroad magnate who oversaw the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The author's experiences traveling through rural Spain by mule in the 1890s.
