Item description from seller

Dust Jacket as issue. With publisher's promotional material laid in. Presentation from Zora Sterling, the author's wife, on half title. Laid in is clipped signature from author. Inked note from previous owner pasted on front blank preliminary page and previous owner's name and address laid in. CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Covers are clean with minor shelf soiling. Interior pages are generally clean and tight; old tape stains from former owner's address note and where the author's clipped signature was taped onto title page. DJ is complete with fiber tape reinforcement on edges; now in mylar sleeve. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: The author, born in Texas in 1891, began his Ranger career as an under-age scout for them and the Third US Cavalry. In addition worked as a cowboy on the Lasater Ranch. Became Captain of Co.D and scouted throughout the state. Very absorbing story of an important Texas Ranger of the early 20th Century. The former owner, Vance Hamilton, was himself a working cowboy in Texas and Montana in the early 20th Century and contemporary to the material described in the book. REFERENCE: ADAMS Six-Guns 2141 "Has chapter on the Bandit War and material on Sam Bass, Frank Johnson, Gregorio Cortez, and other Texas badmen. The chapter on Bass is largely correct, but there are several errors in other sections.".
