Kalashnikoff went on to write several books for children including the Newberry honor book, The Defender. Stated first edition (first printing). A very good copy, cloth a bit grubby at the edges, spine gilt somewhat darkened and tidemark to page block. In a good only dust jacket that is chipped and torn with loss to rear bottom corner affecting some text. Inscribed by the author to the former owner: 'with my sincere admiration and best wishes.
