This copy has been SIGNED, warmly inscribed, dated, and placed (Winthrop, Deep River, Conn.) by Kalashnikoff, two years before his death, on the front endpaper (as pictured). Likely inscribed to Cornelia Meigs, a fellow Newbery-honored children's literature author (he was honored in 1952, and she had won the medal in 1934). Author's autobiography and first book. F2000.
