About this Item
SIGNED BY UKERS AND INSCRIBED ON NOVEMBER 24, 1941 (see photos). Incredibly rare signed and in dust jackets. As you can see in the photos the dust jacket spine for volume 2 is missing and there is some chipping on dust jackets in both volumes but the fact that the dust jackets exist on a signed copy is amazing. Bindings are tight and internal pages are clear and bright without the water damage that plagued the vast majority of copies of this masterpiece. VERY RARE! In 1935 William Ukers published his massive, 1149 page, 54 chapter opus on Tea. He spent twenty-five years collecting material and visiting the tea-growing regions of Asia before delving into research work in the principal libraries, museums and laboratories of America and Europe. Only 600 copies of Ukers' work were printed. One of the most extensive works ever written on Tea, heavily illustrated with photographs and reproductions. Today the work is still a foundational work in culinary history and is often referenced. Recently the work was cited as the most significant work on tea in the NYPL's collections on Culinary History. I am listing my whole collection of tea industry books on ABE - check them out in my store! Seller Inventory # 000337
