About this Item
First edition, first printing of Patterson's early thriller, writing as Martin Fallon, and the first novel to feature the British Intelligence agent Paul Chavasse. Signed and inscribed by Patterson to the flyleaf, dated in the year of publication. Housed in a custom wooden slipcase signed by the artist Lewis Durbin. London: Abelard-Schuman, 1962. Publisher's original black cloth boards, spine lettered in silver; pp. 158. A very good copy in a very good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding remains sturdy and square with minimal shelfwear. Dampstain to top front corner of the cloth and pastedown, lightly visible to the corner of the first few pages. Traces of scattered foxing internally and to page edges. The dust jacket remains unfaded showing minor chipping to the spine crown with some unnecessary tape reinforcements near the spine crown and top of the flap folds. Presents well, protected in archival mylar. Seller Inventory # ABE-1717003834466
