Ther Devil Rides Outside

WONDERFULLY INSCRIBED BY JOHN HOWARD GRIFFIN TO HIS CLOSE FRIEND MAXWELL GEISMAR (PRE-EMINENT LITERARY CRITIC WHO, AMONG OTHER THINGS, WROTE THE INTRODUCTION TO "SOUL ON ICE"): "FOR MAX--THE BEST THING TO ME --THE VERY BEST THING-- ABOUT THIS OLD BOOK IS THAT IT INTRODUCED ME TO YOU AND ANNE-- AND THAT WAS ENOUGH--THE REST FOLLOWED. HOWARD". A solid copy to boot of the 1952 stated 1st edition of the first published book by the author of "Black Like Me". Tight and VG (with light spotting at the panels) in a bright, price-intact, VG- dustjacket, with light chipping at the spine ends, tips and flap-folds. Still though, a very presentable copy. Thick octavo, 596 pgs. Signed by Author.
